SARA KEY

Sara was born and raised in Tampa, FL. She graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and earned her master's degree in School Counseling from the University of South Florida.

Sara is going into her 8th year of providing mental health intervention services for children ages 5 to 16 and is currently serving as a Middle School Counselor in Hillsborough County. Sara’s approach to counseling aligns with Positive Psychology and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). It is the goal of Positive Psychology to highlight the strengths of the individual, to use mindfulness and to focus on increasing gratitude and resiliency within the individual. SFBT techniques help individuals focus on the present and problem solve by targeting solutions and setting goals. Sara works closely with the individual to guide their understanding of internal control and the strengths they possess in living a stronger and balanced tomorrow.

Her primary focus and experience has been working with adolescents, but she is available to provide services to children and young adults. In her role as a school counselor she has designed and provided intervention services both one on one and in small counseling groups. The small counseling group topics span from social skills, anxiety, anger management, grief and emotional regulation. Participation in group settings will be promoted as opportunities become available, but for now all services, one on one or group, will be provided through telehealth counseling.
